founder and CEO

As founder and CEO of The Epiphany Project, Inc. (TEPI), Maurice Madden brings extensive expertise in healthcare and health policy. Throughout his career, he has served as a consultant for both non-profit organizations and for-profit corporations, and he has also worked in government.

Over the past three years, he directed a nationwide kidney disease initiative for GlomCon Foundation and NephCure, non-profit organizations focused on kidney health. The initiative raised awareness about chronic kidney disease (CKD) and APOL1-mediated kidney disease (AMKD), earning recognition when NephCure won a Bronze Anthem Award for its APOL1-Mediated Kidney Disease campaign.

Currently, Madden serves as a consultant for Cities for Better Health (CBH), sponsored by Novo Nordisk. In this role, he has built strong relationships with physicians, faith leaders, elected officials, community leaders, and business professionals nationwide, and he is leading a Faith & Diabetes initiative in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Prior to CBH, he led a strategic planning coalition in Georgia for a World Diabetes Day event, coordinating partnerships with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia, Kroger, the Georgia Diabetes Group, the Atlanta Hawks, the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Area Agency on Aging, AARP of Georgia, and Kaiser Permanente. His experience spans partnership building, media relations, strategic planning, and community organizing.

From 2013 to 2014, Madden consulted for the YMCA of the USA, assisting in the selection of YMCA employees across Arlington, Dallas, and Fort Worth, Texas. He developed a marketing strategy to enroll Medicare recipients in a scientifically based Diabetes Prevention Program, drafted an op-ed for a U.S. Representative, collaborated with the Texas Academy of Family Physicians and the North Texas American Diabetes Association, and helped plan a press conference announcing the program launch.

In 2009, he became the Georgia Director of the Medicare Diabetes Screening Project (MDSP) in Atlanta. He began working with the MDSP in 2007 in Muscogee County, Georgia, where he helped launch a public awareness campaign for Medicare recipients in Columbus, Georgia. He organized key stakeholders to promote the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program (YDPP) in Atlanta and Dayton, Ohio. One of his major accomplishments came in 2012, when he brokered a pilot initiative with Kaiser Permanente, MDSP/Novo Nordisk, and the YMCA of Metro Atlanta, resulting in 200 seniors enrolling in a diabetes prevention program.

A graduate of Morehouse College, Madden resides in Atlanta, Georgia. With over fifteen years of dedicated experience in healthcare, he has devoted much of his career to diabetes education and health policy advocacy, with a mission to empower communities to make informed health decisions both nationally and internationally.
